OSHA-Compliant Labels and Signs

We provide quality products to a variety of industries.

Custom OSHA-Compliant Labels & Signs

UL authorized. OSHA compliant.

Custom OSHA-compliant labels produced from your approved, source-anchored message record, in constructions rated for the environment they serve. U.S. Nameplate Co. is a UL approved label supplier working from an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility.

About OSHA-compliant labels

Most identification on a machine is there because you want it there. Compliance labelling is there because a regulation, a customer specification, or an insurer requires it — which changes the standard the label is held to.

It has to carry specified content, be legible at the distance an operator stands, be present at the location the standard calls for, and remain that way through the service life of the equipment. A compliance label that has faded is a finding, not just a worn part.

  • Workplace hazard labelling on production equipment
  • Lockout and energy isolation identification
  • Arc flash and electrical hazard labels
  • Chemical and material handling labels
  • Equipment inspection and certification labels
  • Personal protective equipment requirement notices
  • Machine guarding and access restriction labels

Certifications and recognitions

Three things are worth being precise about, because they are frequently asked and frequently answered loosely across the industry.

UL authorizedU.S. Nameplate Co. is an authorized UL label supplier, and our labels can be produced as UL listed products. See our UL authorized label supplier reference.
ISO 9001:2015 certified
The facility operates under a certified quality management system, so the label you approve is the label you receive on the tenth order as well as the first.
Produced to your specification
We manufacture to the standard and artwork you supply and proof against it. Where a regulation governs content and placement, that content is yours to determine — we make sure it is reproduced exactly and survives.

If your specification names a standard, send it with the RFQ and we will proof to it.

Compliance label durability

The part of compliance labelling most often under-specified is service life. A label that satisfies an inspection on the day the machine ships, and is unreadable at the first annual inspection, has not done its job.

Substrate
Polyester for anything outdoors, handled, or cleaned. UL recognized, with 2–5 year expected exterior life in flexible form.
OverlaminateA clear protective film takes abrasion, UV, and chemical contact instead of the ink. UV clearcoat is available to prevent fading. See laminating.
Sub-surface printing
On clear substrates the graphics print on the underside, so the material protects them and nothing abrasive touches the ink.
Metal constructionWhere the label must last the life of the machine, the same content can be produced as an etched or Metalphoto® plate rather than a decal. See metal etching.
Adhesive
Matched to the mounting surface, including 3M low-surface-energy options for powder coat and difficult plastics.

Unlimited PMS, standard, or custom colors are available, which matters where a standard or a corporate safety scheme specifies exact colors.

Fleet-wide labelling consistency

Compliance problems are rarely about one label. They are about the same machine leaving the factory with different labelling in different months, because parts were ordered separately and revisions did not reach every bin.

Consolidating a machine’s compliance labelling into a label set under one part number means one revision controls all of it. Held under a stock and release program, the old version is here where it can be managed when content changes, rather than in a drawer at your plant.

How a compliance label order runs

  1. Send the content and the standard. Artwork, required wording, and any specification. Our seasoned art department turns it into a press-ready proof at no charge.
  2. We recommend the construction. Substrate, overlaminate, and adhesive, chosen against the mounting surface and the inspection interval the label must survive.
  3. You approve the proof. Content, color, size, and placement are signed off before production.
  4. Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after the proof is approved, in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
  5. Delivery or release. Orders ship within a 10% over/under quantity standard, or run against a stocking program.

Compliance label RFQ checklist

  • The required content and wording, or the current label
  • The standard or customer specification that governs it
  • Whether the label must be UL listed
  • Finished size, any custom shape, and required colors
  • What the label mounts to, including the surface finish
  • The exposure and the inspection interval it has to survive
  • Quantity and your timing, including the date the line actually needs parts

If you do not have all of that yet, send what you have and call 319-895-8804. Customer service is open 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM–3:30 PM CST Friday, and you will always reach someone in person.
