Lawn & Garden Nameplates & Labels
Consumer-facing, outdoor-rated
Brand identity, operator interfaces, and safety content for lawn and garden equipment across model years and configurations. Metal and flexible identification supplied together so a model’s package ships on one revision.
U.S. Nameplate Co. supplies nameplates, decals, and safety labelling to outdoor power equipment manufacturers, and exhibits at GIE+Expo, The Green Industry & Equipment Expo. Rugged use and weather fluctuation are ordinary in this equipment, and our products are manufactured against life expectancy, environmental exposure, and the surface the part is applied to. Quotes are free.
Outdoor power equipment we identify
Outdoor power equipment has a demanding identification profile hidden inside a low-cost product. The machines are used hard for part of the year, stored outdoors or in unheated buildings for the rest, cleaned aggressively, and sold into a market where the machine’s appearance is part of the purchase decision.

Appearance and brand requirements
On most equipment we identify, the nameplate is a functional necessity. On outdoor power equipment it is also a sales surface. A dealer floor puts competing machines side by side, and a faded or peeling decal on a two-year-old trade-in is visible to every customer who walks past it.
So this industry carries two requirements at once: the safety and rating content has to satisfy a specification, and the brand graphics have to still look new after seasons of sun, rain, and pressure washing. Both are construction decisions, made before the artwork matters.
Service conditions
UV exposure in storage
Equipment parked outdoors between seasons fades faster than equipment in daily use. Sunlight, not work, ages most of these graphics.
Weather fluctuation
Machines cycle through heat, freeze, and moisture, stressing the bond between an adhesive and the machine.
Debris and abrasion
Grass, soil, and wood chips scour exposed surfaces, particularly around decks, intakes, and discharge chutes.
Fuel and chemical contact
Fuel spillage, oil, and lawn chemicals attack marking that sits on the surface.
Pressure washing
End-of-season cleaning is often the harshest single thing that happens to a decal all year.
Specifying for service life
Products are manufactured based on the factors that actually decide service life: life expectancy, environmental factors, and surface application.
Life expectancy
A commercial machine expected to run for a decade should not carry graphics rated for two to five years. Where the plate must outlast the paint, marking goes into the metal.
Environmental factors
Full outdoor exposure calls for UV-resistant constructions, an overlaminate, and UV clearcoat on anything printed.
Surface application
Powder-coated decks and composite housings are low surface energy. A decal specified for bare metal and applied to powder coat is the most common reason graphics lift at the corners.
Materials and processes
Overlaminated polyesterThe durable flexible construction, with UV clearcoat to prevent fading. Flexible constructions typically give 2–5 years outdoor exposure, and an overlaminate pushes toward the top of that range. See
laminating.
3M low-surface-energy adhesives9471PC and 9472LE grades for powder-coated decks and composite housings. See
3M adhesives.
Anodized aluminum
Sapphire-hard surface with roughly 20-year exterior life, for plates that must outlast the machine’s paint.
Metal etchingRecessed, color-filled legends with high chemical and abrasion resistance. See
metal etching.
3M Controltac™ and Scotchcal™ vinyl
Conformable films for curved decks and housings, including white reflective.
Sub-surface printing
On clear substrates the graphics print on the underside, so the material protects them and nothing abrasive touches the ink.
Identification components

Safety and warning labelsHazard communication at blades, guards, discharge chutes, and access points. See

Instruction and maintenance decals
Service intervals and operating procedures mounted where the owner will find them.
Seasonal supply and part numbers
This industry builds to a season, which makes part-number sprawl expensive. A single machine can carry a dozen separate decals, each with its own purchase line, its own bin, and its own chance of running short during the one quarter when the line cannot stop.
Consolidating them into a label set gives one part number, one revision, and a sheet an operator works straight down. Held under a stock and release program, a production quantity can be built ahead of the season and released against your build schedule, invoiced upon delivery rather than upon ordering.
Trade shows and memberships
We exhibit at and attend GIE+Expo, The Green Industry & Equipment Expo, and participate in tradeshows throughout the year to stay close to how this equipment is actually built and sold.
How a lawn and garden order runs
- 1
Tell us the machine and where the part mounts. Including the deck or housing material and finish. Our seasoned art department turns artwork into a press-ready proof at no charge.
- 2
We recommend the construction. Chosen against life expectancy, exposure, and the mounting surface.
- 3
You approve the proof. Graphics, colors, size, and placement signed off before production.
- 4
Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after the proof is approved, in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
- 5
Seasonal supply. Parts can be built ahead and released against your build schedule so the season does not depend on a lead time.
