Off Highway Equipment Nameplates
Built for mud, vibration, and UV
Nameplates, warning labels, and operator graphics for off-highway equipment that works outdoors and stays outdoors. Metal identification built to withstand up to 25 years of outdoor exposure, supplied alongside the flexible labels on the same machine.
Discover custom nameplates, labels, overlays, and related identification solutions from U.S. Nameplate Co. for off-highway equipment and applications. We work with purchasing, engineering, and operations teams serving this market. We use your application, artwork, specifications, quantities, and order requirements to frame the custom identification project you need quoted.
Off-highway equipment we identify
Rugged terrain and extreme conditions are ordinary in off-highway work. U.S. Nameplate Co. has been designing and producing decals, labels, and nameplates for this equipment since 1946, and we supply original equipment manufacturers of heavy-duty dozers, loaders, and excavators.
-
Dozers, loaders, excavators, and backhoes
-
Graders, crushers, screen machines, and material handlers
-
Compaction, paving, and site-prep equipment
-
Attachments, buckets, booms, and hydraulic implements
-
Engine, pump, and hydraulic sub-assemblies inside the machine
-
Service, rental, and fleet equipment carried between job sites
Engineers on these programs typically order custom safety labels and signs alongside the brand and data identification, because one machine carries both.
Identification components
Brand and model nameplates
Durable indoor and outdoor brand identity, usually the most visible plate on the machine and the one held to the tightest appearance standard.
Data and rating plates
Weights, capacities, hydraulic pressures, and operating limits. Frequently the plate an inspector or a service technician reads first.
Serial and VIN plates
The unique identifier tying one machine to one equipment record, for warranty, parts, resale, and theft recovery.
Safety and warning labels
Pinch points, crush hazards, hot surfaces, fall hazards, and lockout instructions, placed where the operator will actually encounter them.
Operator and instruction plates
Lubrication schedules, grade and travel-speed limits, control legends, and startup procedures mounted at the point of use.
Asset and property tags
Fleet tracking and ownership identification, often bar coded, for equipment that moves between sites and operators.
Off-highway service conditions
Off-highway equipment attacks its own labelling in four distinct ways, and knowing which one dominates on your machine is the fastest route to a specification that survives.
Abrasion
Grit, brush, and constant operator contact wear printed buttons, icons, and instructions until they cannot be read. Anodized aluminum and Metalphoto® resist it best; surface-printed graphics do not.
Corrosion
Hot, moist conditions accelerate corrosion; low-pH water accelerates it further; road salt and de-icing chemicals accelerate it a great deal. Stainless steel and etched aluminum hold up where painted steel does not.
Chemicals
Fuel, hydraulic fluid, solvents, and degreasers strip ink from printed labels and cause adhesion failures. An etched or Metalphoto mark has nothing on the surface to remove.
Temperature and UV
Engine heat, direct sunlight, and hard winters all take a turn. Heat distorts images and defeats adhesives; cold makes adhesives shrink and go brittle; prolonged UV fades pigment. Mechanical attachment plus a marking method that is part of the metal answers all three.
Materials and processes
For this industry we build identification to withstand up to 25 years of outdoor exposure, with some products guaranteed for 25 years or more.
Anodized aluminum
.005″–.125″ in black, clear, red, or gold. Sapphire-hard surface, exceptional abrasion and chemical resistance, roughly 20-year exterior life. The workhorse for off-highway nameplates.
Metalphoto®
.003″–.125″. The image is sealed beneath the anodic layer, giving superior resistance to abrasion, solvents, UV, and extreme temperatures, with 20 years or more of outdoor exposure. Used where bar codes or fine detail must stay scannable.
Metal etching
The most durable marking process we offer. The graphic is cut into the metal and can be colour filled, so grit and solvents have nothing to wear away.
Flexible safety labels
Polyester and vinyl constructions with UV-stable inks and overlaminates, for curved surfaces and large-format warnings where a rigid plate will not conform.
Tamper-proof components
Constructions that show evidence of removal, for asset and ownership identification on equipment that leaves the yard.
Phosphorescent printing is available where operating or emergency information has to stay visible in low light.
Compliance and documentation
We manufacture in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility and are a UL approved label supplier, so compliance-bearing plates and safety labels can be produced under a documented quality system.
Off-highway programs are rarely one-time buys. A machine platform runs for years across model variants, and the identification package has to stay consistent through every revision. Repeat releases can run against a stock and release program — we hold the parts and invoice on delivery rather than on order, so a model-year change does not leave you holding obsolete plates.
Trade shows and memberships
U.S. Nameplate Co. exhibits at CONEXPO-CON/AGG and is a proud member of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. We have been the supplier of choice to more than 3,000 original equipment manufacturers in the U.S. and abroad, manufacturing every step under one roof in our 55,000 sq ft facility in Mount Vernon, Iowa.
How an off-highway order runs
- 1
Send your drawings and artwork. Our in-house art department turns a blueprint into a press-ready proof at no charge. Quotes are free on every order.
- 2
Review the proof. You approve artwork, material, attachment, and placement before production. Safety content stays under your authority throughout.
- 3
Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after proof approval. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
- 4
Delivery and reorder. Orders ship within a 10% over/under standard, and can be kitted per machine so the assembly line receives one package rather than a dozen part numbers.
Off-highway RFQ checklist
-
The machine or platform, and which components need identification
-
Drawings or artwork for each plate and label, with placement if known
-
Mounting surface and finish — painted, powder-coated, bare metal, or plastic
-
The service environment: temperature range, chemical exposure, wash-down, abrasion
-
Variable data such as serial numbers, model codes, or capacities, and where it comes from
-
Any safety content, and who approves the wording
-
Quantity per machine and annual volume, and whether you want kitting or a stocking program
