Medical & Healthcare

We provide quality products to a variety of industries.

Medical & Healthcare Nameplates

Traceable, cleanable, controlled

Nameplates, faceplate labels, and overlays for medical and laboratory equipment, produced under documented revision control from an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Constructions are selected for cleaning agents, handling, and the surfaces they mount to.

Our experienced staff partners with medical equipment manufacturers to meet their industry’s exacting standards. These manufacturers often require material specifications, certifications, and strict inspection procedures for every part that goes onto their equipment. We are a UL authorized label supplier and a recognized supplier for UL system I and II labeling and marking systems.

Medical equipment we identify

Among the equipment our medical customers manufacture are centrifuges, laboratory equipment, and medical pumps. These are devices operated by trained staff, cleaned aggressively and often, and held to documentation standards that most industrial equipment never encounters.

  • Centrifuges and laboratory instruments
  • Medical and infusion pumps
  • Diagnostic and imaging equipment
  • Sterilization and processing equipment
  • Patient monitoring devices
  • Fluid handling systems and enclosures

Documentation and certification

Medical manufacturers often require material specifications, certifications, and strict inspection procedures for each and every part that goes onto their equipment. We have the knowledge and skill to accommodate and adhere to those standards.

That is a different purchasing relationship from most industrial work. The part has to be right, and it has to be demonstrably right, with the paperwork to show it — produced the same way on the fiftieth order as on the first.

ISO 9001:2015 certified
A certified quality management system, so the approved article is what you receive on every subsequent release.
Material specifications
Substrate, thickness, finish, and adhesive recorded against the approved part rather than substituted between runs.
Inspection and documentation
First-article inspection and PPAP documentation available, with full material traceability and certificates of conformance.
UL recognitionA UL authorized label supplier, and a recognized supplier for UL system I and II labeling and marking systems. See our UL authorized label supplier reference.
Revision control
When a label changes, the change is controlled at the part level, so a superseded version cannot quietly continue to ship.

Overlays for medical equipment

In the medical industry, the products most commonly manufactured are dead front overlays and graphic overlays.

Dead front graphics are applied so they appear only when back-lit, which suits medical equipment particularly well: the panel reads as a clean, uncluttered surface, and an indicator or warning appears only when it is active. On a device where an operator must read the right thing quickly, removing inactive markings from view is a genuine usability gain, not a styling choice.

Overlays are produced in polycarbonate and polyester and can be digitally cut and punched to specification, up to 24″ x 36″. See graphic overlays and control panel overlays.

Cleaning and disinfection durability

Medical equipment fails identification in a way outdoor equipment does not. The enemy is not sunlight — it is repeated wiping with disinfectants and alcohol, several times a day, for years.

Sub-surface printing
Graphics printed on the underside of a clear substrate so the material protects them. Cleaning agents contact the substrate, never the ink. The single most important decision for this industry.
Scratch-resistant hardcoats
Clear gloss and clear matte scratch-resistant polycarbonate for keypads and heavy-contact faces.
Polycarbonate
High temperature resistance and mar resistance, easily embossed for push-button controls and readily punched for switch cutouts and display windows.
Matte finishes
Cut glare under the bright, even lighting found in clinical and laboratory settings.
FDA-compliant materialsWhere a sealing or gasket component is part of the assembly, FDA-compliant silicone grades are available. See gaskets.

How a medical order runs

  1. Send the drawing, artwork, and your specification. Including any material or inspection requirement. Our seasoned art department turns it into a press-ready proof at no charge.
  2. We confirm the construction. Substrate, finish, adhesive, and cutouts, recorded against the part so later runs match.
  3. First article and documentation. Inspection and traceability documentation supplied as your process requires.
  4. Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after the proof is approved, in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
  5. Repeat supply. Parts can run against a stocking program so releases arrive as your build schedule requires.

Medical RFQ checklist

  • The panel drawing, with cutouts, windows, and mounting holes
  • Artwork, with colors identified if you have specific targets
  • Whether the panel is back-lit, and whether dead front graphics are required
  • Any material specification, certification, or inspection procedure that applies
  • The cleaning and disinfection regime the part must survive
  • Whether first-article inspection, PPAP, or certificates of conformance are needed
  • Quantity and your timing, including the date the line actually needs parts

If you do not have all of that yet, send what you have and call 319-895-8804. Customer service is open 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM–3:30 PM CST Friday, and you will always reach someone in person.
