Mining Equipment Nameplates & Labels
Abrasion, impact, and constant exposure
Equipment nameplates, warning labels, and operator plates for mining equipment working in continuously abrasive outdoor conditions. Etched and Metalphoto® metal for identification that has to outlast the paint.
Since 1946, U.S. Nameplate has produced durable nameplates and labels for some of the most trusted names in the mining industry. Extreme temperature swings and harsh conditions are commonplace in mining, and we meet the production challenges those stringent requirements demand. Quotes are free.
Mining equipment we identify
Our customers in the mining industry manufacture crushers, graders, wheel loaders, material handlers, screen machines, and much more. These are machines that work in abrasive dust, run continuously, and are serviced in conditions nobody would choose.

Mining service conditions
Mining is the hardest environment we supply, and it attacks identification in three ways at once.
Abrasion
Airborne rock dust effectively sand-blasts every exposed surface. A printed image on the outside of a plate is consumed rather than faded.
Temperature extremes
Equipment working through wide temperature variances stresses the bond between an adhesive and the machine, and between an ink film and its substrate.
Chemical and moisture exposure
Process water, slurry, hydraulic fluid, and cleaning regimes all attack marking that sits on the surface.
Our nameplates and labels are built for rough and unpredictable conditions — withstanding harsh or extreme temperature variances and tolerating rugged environments.
Phosphorescent printing
Underground and night-shift work creates a problem most industries do not have: the identification has to be found before it can be read.
We provide phosphorescent printing, which is more legible in the dark. On an emergency stop legend, an isolation point, or an escape route marker, that difference is the entire purpose of the label.
Materials and processes
For mining equipment, marking that sits in the metal outlasts marking that sits on it, by a wide margin.
Metal etchingThe graphic is recessed into the metal and color filled, so abrasion has to remove the metal to remove the legend. See
metal etching.
Metalphoto®A photographic image sealed inside the anodic layer. Fire, abrasion, and corrosion resistant, and commonly specified for heavy construction and mining. See
Metalphoto processing.
EmbossingRaised characters stay legible many years after harsh service has worn any printed image off the same plate. See
embossing and forming.
Anodized aluminum
Sapphire-hard surface with roughly 20-year exterior life. The standard substrate for mining plates.
Stainless steel
For the caustic and acidic conditions found around processing.
Overlaminated polyesterWhere a flexible label is required, an overlaminate and a correctly matched adhesive are not optional. See
laminating.
Identification components
Serial and asset platesTie a machine to its equipment record and service history for the life of the asset. See
serial plates.
Rating and data platesCapacities, pressures, and operating limits an operator or inspector needs at the machine. See
rating plates.
Safety and warning labelsHazard communication at pinch points, guards, and access panels. See
warning labels.
Control panels and overlaysOperator interfaces built to survive dust and gloved hands. See
aluminum control panels.
Brand nameplatesThe most visible plate on the machine, and the one held to the tightest appearance standard. See
metal nameplates.
Trade shows and memberships
We support our clients and their goals, and to better understand our customers’ needs we participate in tradeshows throughout the year. To stay informed about the mining industry, we exhibit at and attend CONEXPO-CON/AGG and the Offshore Technology Conference.
How a mining order runs
- 1
Tell us the machine and the environment. What it does, where it works, and what has failed before. Our seasoned art department turns a blueprint or artwork into a press-ready proof at no charge.
- 2
We recommend the construction. Material and marking method chosen against abrasion, temperature range, and chemical exposure.
- 3
You approve the proof. Graphics, geometry, and mounting signed off before production.
- 4
Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after the proof is approved, in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
- 5
Repeat supply. Once proven, parts can run against a stocking program so releases arrive when the line needs them.
Mining RFQ checklist

The equipment, and where on it the identification mounts
-
Drawings or artwork, with plate sizes and hole positions
-
What the part is exposed to: abrasive dust, temperature range, process chemicals, wash-down
-
Whether anything needs to be legible in the dark
-
How long the information must stay readable
-
Whether you need plates, labels, panels, or a complete set per machine
-
Quantity and your timing, including the date the line actually needs parts

Why mining manufacturers choose U.S. Nameplate Co.
One partner, one roof
Metal identification and flexible labels are produced under one roof in Mount Vernon, Iowa, so a single supplier covers plates, tags, overlays, decals, and safety labels instead of three.
No tooling fee on in-house equipment
U.S. Nameplate Co. does not charge a tooling fee for any in-house equipment. A one-time charge applies only when a tool has to be created for your order.
You reach a person
