Pumps & Valves Nameplates & Labels

Rated data that survives the service

Rating plates, serial plates, and warning labels for pumps, valves, and flow equipment, with rating and serial data tied to each unit record. Etched and Metalphoto® metal constructions for wash-down, chemical, and outdoor exposure.

U.S. Nameplate Co. supplies identification to manufacturers of pumps, valves, flow meters and accessories, and fluid power equipment. These are assemblies where the rating plate is a working document — read at commissioning, at service, and at inspection — so it is specified to stay readable as long as the equipment runs. Quotes are free.

Pump and valve equipment we identify

Fluid handling equipment is rarely installed where anyone wants to stand. It is in plant rooms, pits, skids, and outdoor installations, and the identification has to do its job without anyone maintaining it.

  • Centrifugal, positive displacement, and process pumps
  • Control, isolation, and safety relief valves
  • Flow meters, gauges, and measurement accessories
  • Fluid power and hydraulic assemblies
  • Water and gas meters
  • Fuel tank gauges and leak detection systems
  • Skid-mounted and packaged systems

Pump and valve rating plates

On a pump or a valve, the identification carries the numbers that decide whether the unit is installed correctly and operated safely — flow rate, head, pressure rating, temperature limits, materials of construction, impeller size, seal type, and the model and serial number that ties it to a spare parts list.

Two consequences follow. First, the content is dense, so the marking process has to hold fine text at small sizes. Second, the values often differ per unit, because a pump is built and tested to an order. That combination — small, dense, and variable — is the defining requirement of this industry.

Dense specification blocks
Etching and Metalphoto® imaging both hold fine detail that a coarse print process would fill in.
Per-unit values
Tested performance figures, materials, and build configuration printed digitally from your file, so each plate carries its own data.
Sequential identifiers
Serial numbers produced in order and recorded, so a rerun continues rather than restarts.
Barcodes and QR codes
Scannable identification that links the physical unit to its data sheet and service history.

Service conditions

Wet and humid installation
Plant rooms, pits, and pump houses are damp continuously, which attacks adhesives before it attacks anything else.
Chemical and hydrocarbon contact
The medium being pumped, plus cleaning regimes, attack marking that sits on the surface.
Surface temperature
Around process pumps and steam service, plate temperature stresses both adhesive bonds and ink films.
Vibration
Continuous running works at any mechanically fastened plate, and at any adhesive bond that was marginal to begin with.
Wash-down and steam cleaning
In food, beverage, and pharmaceutical installations this is routine and aggressive.

Materials and processes

Stainless steel — .010″–.035″
Exceptional resistance to chemicals and corrosion, and the preferred choice for caustic and acidic environments. The default for wet and process installations.
Anodized aluminum
Sapphire-hard surface, roughly 20-year exterior life, where stainless is not required.
Metal etchingRecessed, color-filled legends that hold fine text and resist chemicals. See metal etching.
Metalphoto®Very high resolution sub-surface imaging for dense specification blocks and scannable codes. See Metalphoto processing.
Brass
Non-sparking and UV coated, specified in some plant environments.
Mechanical fasteningHoles in almost any location from .05″ to 3.5″, machined to your print — more reliable than adhesive on a wet, vibrating assembly. See punching, machining, and forming.

Gaskets and sealing components

Most pump and valve manufacturers buy more than identification from us, because the same converting equipment produces the sealing components in the same assembly.

We fabricate custom die-cut gaskets and seals from elastomers including EPDM, neoprene, silicone, nitrile, Viton®, and PTFE, with no minimum order quantity and first-article inspection and PPAP documentation available. See gaskets and electrical and thermal insulators.

How a pumps and valves order runs

  1. Send the plate layout and the data. Including which fields change per unit and how that data reaches us. Our seasoned art department turns a blueprint or artwork into a press-ready proof at no charge.
  2. We recommend the construction. Material, marking method, and fastening chosen against the medium, temperature, and installation.
  3. You approve the proof. Including a sample of the variable data and any barcode, verified as scannable.
  4. Production. Most jobs finish 7–10 days after the proof is approved, in an ISO 9001:2015 certified facility. Rush work runs 3–5 business days for an additional fee.
  5. Repeat supply. Plates can run against a stocking program so serial numbers arrive in sequence as units are built.

Pumps and valves RFQ checklist

  • Plate size, layout, and hole positions, or a sample of the current plate
  • The data the plate carries, and which fields change between units
  • Any approval mark or standard that applies
  • The medium being handled, and the temperature range at the plate
  • Whether the plate is fastened or bonded, and to what surface
  • Whether you also need gaskets or sealing components for the same assembly
  • Quantity and your timing, including the date the line actually needs parts

If you do not have all of that yet, send what you have and call 319-895-8804. Customer service is open 8:00 AM–4:30 PM CST Monday through Thursday and 7:00 AM–3:30 PM CST Friday, and you will always reach someone in person.

Related industries and products

Pumps and valves work overlaps closely with energy and utilities and medical and healthcare, where pumps are also built. Assemblies are usually supplied with rating plates, serial plates, and data tags, frequently alongside gaskets from the same order.
