Our History

U.S. Nameplate Company's history reflects decades of growth, manufacturing investment, and an expanding role in the industrial identification market.
1946
The business that would become U.S. Nameplate Co. was established in the Mount Vernon, Iowa area.
1950
The growing company, then known as Don M. Ink Nameplate, moved its operation to a new facility west of Mount Vernon. At 4,000 square feet, the facility gave the business room to continue growing.
1962
Betty Wolf, an employee at the time, purchased the business and expanded the workforce.
1965
Howard Cherry acquired the company and renamed it Midwest Nameplate.
1970
Richard Novetzke acquired the business and renamed it U.S. Nameplate Company, reflecting the company's expanding reach beyond its regional roots.
2012
Over the years, U.S. Nameplate Co. expanded its Mount Vernon operation from 4,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet of manufacturing, warehouse, and office space.
2013
The expanded facility supported a growing range of custom nameplates, labels, control panels, signage, and other identification products for OEM customers.
